All digital recorders have folders to make it very easy to find recordings. Each folder can store up to 99 messages (recordings) or more. With multiple folders, you can use one to record all messages and another folder to keep important messages transferred from the first folder. Some recorders also have a “Schedule” folder, where you can store recordings by date for easy retrieval. This is very useful for expense reporting, schedule tracking and journal keeping.
Since a digital recording is just a sound file, if the file is recorded under a high quality mode it can be used in conjunction with speech recognition software. All you need to do is download your speech file, then launch he voice-to-text software. The software does the rest.
With a push-button recorder, it's tough to record and play back complicated information without looking at he buttons. A slide-switch recorder has only one switch that records, plays, rewinds and fast-forwards at various positions. This makes it easy to dictate and double check complex information and legal documents.
A tape counter is great, but what if you forget to reset it each time? If your recorder has indexing, you can physically “mark” a spot on the tape. When rewinding, you will hear a sound indicating different recordings. This feature is great for locating messages, letters and meetings – whatever you record – and for giving instructions to a secretary or transcription service.
Microcassette transcribers speed up the transcription process. Your assistant can quickly transcribe the tape using a convenient foot switch to rewind and fast-forward, keeping the hands free for typing.
